About Us
The MOSA!C Lab is led by Prof. Tarik Taleb and is part of the Chair of Networked Energy-Efficient Systems at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Ruhr University Bochum.
The lab has its roots in the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC) – Networks and Systems Unit, Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, at the University of Oulu, where it operated from October 2018 to December 2023, and the School of Electrical Engineering at Aalto University (October 2014 to December 2021). While at the University of Oulu, it was a key contributor to the Oulu 6G Flagship program.
The MOSA!C Lab is comprised of a dynamic and enthusiastic team of researchers with diverse expertise in mobile networking, cloud computing, software engineering, and embedded systems. The lab leverages Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to advance various aspects of mobile networking and cloud computing.
In collaboration with ICTFICIAL Oy, the lab has participated in numerous research projects funded by the European Commission, Academy of Finland, and Business Finland. Its core focus is on Mobile Network Softwarization and Service Customization, driving the vision of enabling an autonomous telco cloud.
At MOSA!C Lab, we combine expertise from various disciplines to conduct high-impact, multidisciplinary research that influences relevant industry standards. Our research focuses on the following areas to support innovative mobile services:
Zero-Touch Telco Cloud Orchestration.
Autonomous, Agile, and Resilient Management of the Cloud Continuum.
Advanced Networking to support Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Services (e.g., Immersive Services, UAVs).
Non-Terrestrial Networking (NTN) for Beyond 5G.
GenAI-powered System Architecture Design.
Secure & Trustworthy Networking.
